Some forms of creativity are learned long before they are named.
Giagia Maritsa, my grandmother, belongs to that part of the t•Ana Couture story. Her world was shaped by Cyprus, family, resourcefulness and the quiet intelligence of making by hand. That care continued through my mother, Elli, and eventually through me.
Three Generations of Making
Threads of Heritage carries this lineage into the present through selected hand-knit and artisan-made pieces, including work created with my mother, artisan Elli Tsigaridou. The intention is not to recreate the past, but to allow inherited skill, memory and contemporary design to meet naturally.
Cyprus as Material Memory
Cyprus appears throughout the Maison in texture, colour, light and rhythm: stone, sand, sea, sun-warmed neutrals and the meeting of softness with resilience.
Mediterranean Muse: Sand & Sea expresses another side of that connection: a freer seasonal interpretation of the island’s light, landscape, colour and movement.
A Language of Symbols
Florals, animals, natural forms and recurring symbols appear throughout my work for the emotions and ideas they carry, translated into artworks, textiles, linings, names and hidden details.
The zinnia, for example, speaks to lasting affection and constancy. The sea and sand suggest movement, renewal and return. These details are often part of where a piece begins.
In Her Light
Giagia Maritsa is remembered here most truthfully through the patience of the work, the value placed on the hand and the belief that what we inherit can keep evolving without losing its roots.
